Recent General and Community Activities


  • Prepared a visual display highlighting Polish history, culture, art and music for public viewing at the State Capital.

  • Compiled Polish Artifacts and memorabilia for the Connecticut Historical Society's "Immigrations Trunk Project" which is available to schools throughout Connecticut.

  • Played a significant role in the production of "Sharing Stories: Polish Life in Our Valley" a documentary film featured by PBS station, WGBY.

  • Sponsored renowned Polish soprano, Dr. Laura Kafka, in concert.

  • Prepared, introduced, and served high Polish cuisine for an event sponsored by the Institute of World Affairs, an elder hostel in Salisbury, CT.

  • Participated in Greater Hartford's Cultural Awareness Day, a celebration of the cultural and ethnic diversity of the area.

  • Through lectures and donations to local area libraries, featured prominent Polish authors whose works underscore the important role of Poles have played in the world history as well as their invaluable contributions to the strength and prosperity of American Life.

  • Presented demonstrations of folk art, such as "Pisanki" (decorated Easter eggs) and "Wycinanki" (cut paper art).

  • Sponsors the annual "Szopka" (Christmas Manger) Festival, which encourages the participation and creativity of young students and showcases Polish crafts, foods, literature, and culture. The proceeds from Szopka are dedicated to a Scholarship Fund awarded annually.

  • Assisted with the majors funding campaign to install the Kosciuszko Squadron Exhibit at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. This exhibit honors the heroic efforts of Polish airmen during World War II fighting alongside Allied forces.

  • Made a substantial monetary donation toward the establishment of the Stanislaus A. Blejwas Chair in Polish and Polish-American Studies at Central Connecticut State University.
